As long as eating is a requirement, it might as well be enjoyable. This is why I've dedicated a portion of the posts on my blog to reviewing various food products, usually of the frozen and highly pre-processed varieties.
Theoretically, you could just click the "food" tag in my tag cloud thing and get all the posts I've ever written about various food products and my opinions thereof, but there's other stuff in there as well. So, this page will serve as both a list of all the food reviews I've done and to also provide a short summary of each review.
I'm not sure whether to order these chronologically or alphabetically. For now, you get chronologic.
- Tortugas' Lie Habañero Peppa Sauce
- My first post that can really be called a "food review". Overall positive opinion.
- Stouffer's and TGI Friday's Skillet Meals
- Stouffer's: Overall positive opinion.
- TGI Friday's: Hides complexity under the guise of simplicity. They've actually changed this since the review, so what I say here is irrelevant today.
- Tyson Fun Nuggets
- Not a complete review by any means, though I don't remember any issues with directions or flavor. Mostly complaining that I got fewer than I expected and that there was an imbalance between Stegosauruses and Tyrannosaurus Rexes. Because these things matter.
- El Monterey Burritos/Chimichangas
- Overall positive opinion.
- M&M's Ice Cream Sandwiches and California Pizza Kitchen Flatbread Melts
- Ice Cream Sandwiches: good, but too small.
- Flatbread Melts: good, but needs directions for something other than the microwave.
- California Pizza Kitchen Frozen Pizza
- Reviewed one of their thin crust varieties, they take thin crust to an extreme. Overall positive opinion, but there are some negatives that I point out.
- Red Baron Fire-Baked Pepperoni Pizza
- Noting the puddle of grease on top and the fact that the pepperoni requires rearrangement prior to cooking. Was once my go-to frozen pizza brand, dethroned in this post in favor of California Pizza Kitchen.
- DiGiorno Flatbread Melts
- Depending on variety, bland bread. Decided I'd stick with the California Pizza Kitchen ones.
- Tequeños
- A variety of complaints outweigh what little good I had to say about the product. Overall indifferent opinion.
- TGI Friday's Anytime Sliders
- Just stick with White Castle.
- Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza
- Overall indifferent opinion. A lot of gripes and nitpicks to be had.
- José Olé Taquitos
- Most of the post is completely unrelated, review is in the last paragraph. At the time, the best taquitos I'd bothered to try from the frozen aisle.
- Mrs. T's Pierogies
- Overall positive opinion. Also, despite owning a contact grill, I completely overlooked the really simple and straightforward contact grill directions.
- Giant Brand Macaroni and Cheese Bites
- Directions on the box are wrong, so I formulated slightly better ones. That aside, overall positive opinion.
- SuperPretzel Sofstix, El Monterey Taquitos, Totino's Pizza Stuffers, and FarmRich Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers
- SuperPretzel Sofstix: Directions on the box are wrong, cooking time needs to be doubled. Overall negative opinion.
- El Monterey Taquitos: Driving home the point that El Monterey = good.
- Totino's Pizza Stuffers: Overall positive opinion.
- FarmRich Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers: Overall positive opinion.
- Raybern New York Deli Style Sandwiches
- Small, inexpensive sandwiches that heat up quickly in the microwave. Despite being found in the freezer section, they turn out better if they're thawed before heating. A few gripes, but overall positive opinion.
- FarmRich frozen snack foods
- Overall positive opinion.
- Uno Deep Dish Pizza, and followup post
- Overall positive opinion.
- Pepperoni variety: holy crap I don't have to rearrange the pepperoni.
- Pizza skins: most innovative thing I've seen done with the pizza form factor in forever.
- Not mentioned in either post: Best cooking experience is achieved with these completely thawed. Ever since I stopped putting them in the freezer they've stopped sticking to the oven rack.
- Giant Brand Spicy Chicken Strips
- Completely legit. A+++++ WOULD EAT AGAIN.
- Giant killed these off. RIP
- THEY'RE BACK FROM THE DEAD
- Giant Brand Onion Petals
- They omitted the directions for thawing the sauce packet, and it seems like fried onions don't really enjoy the freezing process very much. Overall semi-positive opinion.
- Pillsbury Toaster Scrambles
- Overall positive opinion.
- José Olé Nacho Bites
- Overall positive opinion.
- Chocolate Toast Crunch and French Toast Crunch
- Chocolate Toast Crunch: positive opinion
- French Toast Crunch: kinda meh
- Nando's Peri-Peri Sauces
- Overall positive opinion
- GET YOURSELF TO NANDO'S
