Gaming Page

A bit about my preferences in gaming: I like RPGs (mostly JRPGs, but a WRPG is fine too) (action and turn-based RPGs are fine, never got into strategy RPGs), puzzle games, FPSes, and the occasional shmup (mostly danmaku because I can actually dodge bullets in danmaku shmups).  I don't really like defense games, they tend to be boring and lack replay value.

Now, on to a giant bulleted list clusterfuck of everything I own gaming-wise.

Portables:
  • Clear Fat Gameboy
  • Teal Gameboy Color
    • Except that I'd want to use a momentary rocker switch for the brightness control instead of soldering to select, up, and down on the GBC mainboard, but I'd need to find a suitable switch that will fit into the GBC's case
  • PSP - PSP-1001, running 6.61 Pro-C CFW
  • Old 3DS XL, New 3DS XL, and an Old 2DS - Running fastboot3DS + Luma3DS CFW, on 11.13.0-45U sysNAND
  • Nintendo Switch - also technically a home console, look a few inches down for info
Home consoles:
  • NES - Blinking Light Win 72-pin connector + region mod
    • Also technically a "stereo sound mod" of sorts: a janky setup of RCA splitters and gender changers
    • Need a flashcart (like the Everdrive N8)
  • SNES - Tabs removed so I can play Super Famicom games
    • Supported by the amazing SD2SNES Pro flash cartridge and the janky but still useful Super UFO Pro 8 flash cartridge/cheat device/rom dumper/save dumper/save loader.
    • The latter was purchased for its capability of dumping and restoring the save data for games.
    • The former was purchased to have an actual competent flash cartridge.
  • PS2 - SCPH-30001, v4 gap bios, hardmodded with DMS4 Pro modchip running ToxicOS 0.41
    • Barely functional laser unit in the optical drive
    • Network adapter
    • 200GB Maxtor hard drive (the molex and IDE connectors line up perfectly with those on the network adapter, no modification required)
    • It's kind of a shame that Team Toxic dropped off of the face of the earth
  • GameCube - black DOL-001 with digital AV out port, sadly unmodded
    • Ethernet adapter
    • Gameboy Player
      • I need a flash cart for this
    • I kinda want to do a power LED mod to make it red instead of orange
    • I'm looking into those HDMI adapters I've seen floating around
    • I need an Action Replay disc and an SD card adapter for the memory card slot
  • Wii U - black 32GB running haxchi on 5.5.1U
    • NAND update folder deleted, which I find to be far more cromulent than depending on external DNS servers for update blocking
    • Currently procrastinating setting up CBHC, still hoping something better can be found since the CBHC exploit runs very late in the boot process in comparison to things like BootMii on the Wii and the various 3DS sighax implementations
  • Nintendo Switch
    • Also technically a portable console, but whatever
    • Running latest OFW
    • Friend Code: 5286-3388-3113
    • I also made a Japanese eShop account in addition to my regular US eShop account.  PROTIP: don't do this unless you want to see every news item in both English and Japanese, because that's what happens when you do this.
    • I mostly use it in docked mode, but occasionally I play portable.
    • Trying to figure out how to finagle the Japanese wireless Famicom/Super Famicom controllers (Nintendo Switch Online exclusives) out of Nintendo of Japan.
Computers:
  • My main computer - AMD64 3200+ @ 2.04GHz, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT, running WinXP SP3.RIP
  • An HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with an AMD A8-3500M @ 4x1.50 GHz, 6GB RAM, Radeon 6620G, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64
  • My server - Pentium III @ 866 MHz (Coppermine), 640MB RAM (technically 768 but 128 doesn't get recognized), running a rather out-of-date ArchLinux that's kind of fucked because I didn't understand how rolling release actually works (also sysvinit master race)RIP
Console Games:
  • Gameboy/Gameboy Color/Gameboy Advance:
    • GB: Final Fantasy Adventure (perhaps better known to some as Seiken Densetsu 1, or the prequel to Secret of Mana)
    • GB: Tetris
    • GB: Yoshi
    • GB/GBC: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (fun fact: this has a custom SGB border, but the game doesn't let you into the color dungeon on the SGB)
    • GB/SGB: Donkey Kong Land
    • GB: Bill Elliot's NASCAR Fast Tracks (a classmate of mine in 6th grade "borrowed" my Game Genie and copy of Super Mario Land in exchange for letting me borrow this piece of shit, and then he moved away)
    • GBC: X-Men Mutant Academy
    • GBC: Galaga
    • GBC: Spy vs. Spy
    • GBA: The Lost Vikings
    • GBA: Mario Kart Super Circuit
  • PSP:

    • Darkstalkers Chronicles
    • Lumines (the version with the code execution vulnerability, for what little that's worth these days)
    • Bleach Heat The Soul 1 and 2
    • Mai-HiME Bakuretsu

    • 3DS: Bravely Default (best Final Fantasy game ever)

    • 3DS: Mario Kart 7
    • 3DS: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
    • 3DS: Crosswords Plus (if you're at all interested, buy a physical copy on Amazon for around $8 instead of a digital copy from the eShop for $30)

    • Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World

    • Chrono Cross (not a bad game, despite what many people may tell you)
