This is an XT-style Massive Bulleted List™ of all my ongoing gaming projects. Anything stated here overrides anything I've ever said in a blog post, or ever will say in a blog post. Also, I'll try to keep this page updated so that'll actually be true lol.
- 2019 stuff:
- Brave Dungeon + Dark Witch's Story: COMBAT (Switch):
- Brave Dungeon: Complete, all playing levels unlocked. Doing Lunatic Nightmare runs to send people's stats through the roof (i.e. 1000+) for fun. I may try my hand at speedrunning the "Beat the game with no character higher than level 20" playing level since I basically already have it routed from the 3DS version.
- Dark Witch's Story: COMBAT: Complete. Was a fun use of my time, but at the same time, I don't really see a reason to return to it. Definitely the weakest entry in the Dark Witch franchise.
- Coffee Crisis (Switch): I want my money back. Game is terrible. Enemy spam garbage. Great way to ruin an interesting premise.
- Collection of Mana (Switch): See below. Also, while this is not advertised at all, and it's not specifically programmed to recognize them, Collection of Mana works flawlessly with the Nintendo Switch Online NES/SNES controllers. The NES controller is a perfect fit for a Game Boy title like Final Fantasy Adventure, and being SNES titles, the SNES controller(s) just make sense for Secret/Trials of Mana. It's a shame that these controllers lack the Home button, it would've been the icing on the cake.
- Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk (Switch): Enjoyed the demo, tracked down a physical copy, haven't started. Going to start a fresh save since the demo doesn't count play time correctly. Basically, if you leave the demo running while the console is in sleep mode, it counts that sleep mode time as gameplay time.
- The Legend of Dark Witch (Switch): Basically complete. I doubt I'll ever be able to get all the playing levels since I can't beat Riva on Lunatic, and I have yet to clear the game on Normal as Riva, on any platform.
- Link's Awakening (Switch): Beat it three times, amazing port of a great game. First playthrough was just me dicking around doing my thing. Second playthrough was deathless, third was Hero Mode deathless. All 100% (no amiibo) playthroughs, by the way. Including the Dampe dungeons. The ones that require you to fill the available space can be cheesed by simply making a short route to the boss room and making sure there aren't any chests outside of it.
- Octopath Traveler (Switch): Beat all 8 stories, still need to get everyone levelled up and geared up for the final area. Game also has a massive difficulty spike at this point, the four optional shrine bosses and two of the sidequest bosses are damn difficult and I breezed through the rest of the game.
- Revenge of the Bird King (Switch): See here for my thoughts on this game.
- RISE FROM THE ASHES: Seiken Densetsu Marathon (in order, thanks to Collection of Mana)
- Seiken Densetsu 1/Final Fantasy Adventure (Game Boy): Done
- Seiken Densetsu 2/Secret of Mana (SNES): Done
- Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana (SNES): Not started
- 2018 Clear The Backlog (other than the first item, not necessarily in this order)
- Slog through the rest of Final Fantasy 4 (PS1): I really didn't enjoy my previous play time, but everyone says this game is good...
- Dark Cloud 1 (PS2): I have a save from a long time ago, but I'll be deleting that and starting fresh.
- Fossil Fighters: Frontier (3DS): Got to final boss, don't have a good enough party to defeat final boss, called it quits
- Etrian Odyssey 4 (3DS): played a bit of the demo, honestly I'm going to delete this progress and start over from scratch.
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES): Not started.
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES): Beaten several times at this point, best game in the series. Only reason I don't have a deathless save is because the game counts "Save and Quit" as a death, meaning you have to complete the game in a single session to get a deathless save.
- Donkey Kong Country (SNES): Complete, 101%.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS): Complete, stuck at 99 gold skulltulas and missing one lousy heart piece.
- Summer of RPGs 2017:
- I Am Setsuna (PC): Beaten
- Chrono Cross (PS1): Beaten, dicked around in NG+ for about ten minutes or so
- Final Fantasy 4 (PS1): Dropped, game is shit.
- Rest of project: Postponed
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PC):
- Level 14 Wood Elf (archery, sneak, pickpocket, lockpicking, light armor, one-hand, blocking, and a small bit of destruction for the rune spells so I can lay traps) needs better armor because everything currently pwns him, but his smithing is shit, but he can't get materials to make more armor to level smithing because everything pwns him. Also being sneaky is difficult when enemies aggro from farther away than my render distance :(
- Need a better computer to be able to continue in this one.
- Shantae: (all games in the series)
- Shantae (GBC): partway through, put it down, don't really remember where I need to go
- Shantae: Risky's Revenge (DSi): Beaten, may go back through since you get a different picture at the end for getting 100% if you do a reasonable job at speedrunning
- Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (3DS): Beaten
- Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Wii U/Switch): Should really purchase
- Shantae and the Seven Sirens (Switch): Should probably also purchase
- Project 'Bout Fuckin' Time: (Link's Awakening DX → Final Fantasy 4)
- Link's Awakening DX (GBC): Beaten
- Final Fantasy 4 (PS1): This game isn't worth anyone's time.
- Mario Kart: (all games in the series)
- Super Mario Kart (SNES): Gold on everything up to and not including 100cc Special Cup, as it turns out this game is hard yo
- Mario Kart 64 (N64): Don't own yet (don't even own the requisite N64 to play it on)
- Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA): Busy trying to finish 100cc Special Cup. I think MKSC Rainbow Road gets my vote for worst Rainbow Road. Also, whoever designed Lakeside Park is a dick. In the process of going through what I've already done again to unlock the SNES tracks.
- Mario Kart Double Dash!! (GCN): Complete. Did this a long time ago, back when the game was new. In fact, this game was the entire reason I bought a GameCube. I also have the broadband adapter just on the off-chance I can take my GameCube to a LAN lol (seriously though, even though it's kinda expensive and annoying to set up since you need 8 TVs, 8 GameCubes, 8 Broadband Adapters, 8 copies of MKDD, and 8-16 controllers, LAN mode MKDD is so much fun)
- Mario Kart DS (DS): Grand Prix mode complete. Mission mode not yet finished.
- Mario Kart Wii (Wii): Complete. Got at least one star on all cups in Grand Prix mode.
- Mario Kart 7 (3DS): Complete, never going to three-star everything because the criteria are ridiculous.
- Mario Kart 8 (Wii U): Complete, 100/100 stamps, three-starred all of 50cc/100cc/150cc/Mirror, working on three-starring all of 200cc and getting 10000 coins, will cheat at the amiibo costumes if I can get myself a bunch of NFC tags and a writer. The only amiibo costume I have is the Mario one because I have one of the 30th Anniversary Mario amiibos and it counts as a Mario amiibo.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch): I don't want to give Nintendo money for this blatant cash grab but I'm probably going to do it anyway, this $360 DLC pack better be worth it
- Mario Kart 9: when
- Buy SMK/MK64/MKSC/MKDS on Wii U VC and hack my vWii so I can run Nintendon't and have all but MK7 playable on my Wii U: lol
- Leftovers:
- Radical Dreamers (BS-X Satellaview+Super Famicom): Even though Chrono Cross basically overrides this in terms of the canon, I still want to play it. Now that I have a competent SNES flash cartridge, I can play this one on real hardware instead of an emulator.
- Final Fantasy 4 (PS1): I may return to this at some point, with a guide to get me past the Dark Elf fight because it deals 9999 damage per hit and I don't have the patience to use tons of Life items or cast Life1/Life2 over and over and drain all of my difficult-as-all-hell-to-recover MP.
- Get Back to 100% Achievements:
- Magicka (PC): all I'm missing are the really hard ones lol
- Beat Hazard (PC): I need to get better at the game so I can finish the ship-specific achievements
