This time it was the valve under the kitchen sink. You know, in my post about the last one I mentioned that the plumber said these fucking valves were ticking time bombs, right? That's exactly what I told my dad. His response: He got two valves replaced. The one that had to be emergency-replaced, and the one on my toilet. The plumber recommended replacement for the entire house.
We can go on like this if you want, dad. It'll be the most expensive game of "I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO" ever.
Water's off, parents asleep, and the best part is both my parents need to shower when they get up. Sucks to be them.
I've got two hours until my mom gets up, until then I get to dry the kitchen floor.
Further edits as events unfold.
Edit 1: well, dad made a temporary fix involving duct tape. When they leave for work I'm going to turn the water off again just so I don't have to fucking worry and can get some goddamn sleep.
Edit 2: for whatever reason the plumber can't get here until Thursday. So this duct tape fix has to last until whenever in the afternoon they feel like showing up. At least this time my dad's going to spring for the full-house replacement.
Edit 3: and yes I already dropped the "aren't you glad I haven't moved out yet?" bomb. If I hadn't been here, water would have been spewing into the kitchen (and leaking through into the basement... our house was constructed awesomely like that) for around 2.5 hours before anyone would have noticed. So basically I saved us a ton of money by still living here and being awake at 2 AM. Now to get my dad to realize that.
Edit 4: and then to find a job that pays well enough that I can move out so I never have to deal with my dad ever again.
Edit 5: the plumber showed up today and replaced the broken valve. Apparently the other ones are a different size or something and couldn't be replaced today.
Edit 6 (December 27th): apparently the estimate the plumber gave for replacing all the other valves was unreasonable, and my dad, being an engineer and noticing it would be far cheaper to do it himself, is going to do it himself. All an engineer needs to do anything is proper tools, the materials, and a general understanding of how it's done. Pretty much why most engineers stay single longer, since love is not a system that one can learn and operate within.

sleep at last
Plumbing's fixed. I have the completely reassuring knowledge that the plumber referred to the valve that broke (the specific brand of which is used all over the house) as a "ticking time bomb". Quest valves just randomly fail apparently. I would have said so from the start just based off of the fact that they're plastic. We're most likely going to have to get the entire house changed over to better chrome valves as a pre-emptive measure.
Plumbing's actually been fixed since about 5:45 PM. The problem happened at 7:30 AM, after which I proceeded to leave message after message on my mom's cell phone. Turns out that in the house in Indiana that they're staying in, the phone doesn't get reception, but outside the house it does. So four whole hours later they call back and the whole thing got set in motion.
I ended up only getting a little over two hours of sleep, from 1 PM or so to around 3:30 when the plumbing company called to say they'd sent someone to come fix it.
And that's it. I've been up since 2 PM Thursday, with only 2.5 hours of sleep since then.
If a specific day's experience in life could have a theme song, this one's theme song is definitely American Hi-Fi's Another Perfect Day.
Then at 6 PM or so, after the problem was fixed and the main water valve long since turned back on, I decided to go ahead and eat dinner instead of going to sleep and messing up my dinner plans. After that, I played some Guitar Hero to take my mind off of things. Fired up GH2 for the hell of it and despite having not played the song in forever I got -1 on Message In A Bottle. The drop was stupid, too. Long before the closing solo, which I FCed and got the entire wtfhax tapping portion (which I don't tap) of Solo D under star power. I followed that up with re-watching the first season of Minami-ke in its entirety.
I should probably go out and get Friday's mail now that I think about it. In fact, I should probably stay up until the newspaper gets here, but I don't know if I can make it that far and I'd rather get sleep and leave the newspaper in the driveway all day than gorge myself on coke zero trying to stay up for another hour and a half.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Ok so I was using the bathroom and about to go to sleep and suddenly I hear a weird noise.
I go check it out and the water shutoff valve to my parents' toilet has burst and water is spewing out all over the floor.
I went into the basement and shut off the main water valve but for whatever reason water is still leaking out of the toilet's valve.
I've left about 4 or 5 messages on my mom's cell phone (they're conveniently in Indiana on vacation), which of course is not on because she never has it on, even while charging it.
I know it's 6:30 AM or something where they are.
I don't care.
TURN YOUR FUCKING CELL PHONE ON MOM WHAT THE FUCK SERIOUSLY WHY DO YOU HAVE A GOD DAMNED CELL PHONE IF YOU NEVER FUCKING TURN IT ON.
I just want to go to sleep, but I can't when water is leaking throughout the house.

The things that happen when you don't have water
My dad turned off the water coming into our house before going to bed. Why? Because the pipe bringing it into our basement is leaking. Completely reasonable, logical reason.
Except it seems to have brought out the clumsy in me. Since he turned it off and went to bed I've gotten cheese salsa in my beard not once but twice, and dripped the same cheese salsa both on the counter while pouring it into a bowl from its jar and again onto the floor as I was enjoying it with some chips.
Just a few minutes ago, I accidentally knocked over my can of diet Dr. Pepper, sending Dr. Pepper across my desk and onto the floor.
I improvised a solution involving paper towels and ice cubes from the freezer, but I still think the floor's going to be sticky.
Also, on a completely different subject, I've noticed this while making the past several posts on here. If you stop typing for a while, it automatically saves your work as a draft with Web 2.0 faggotry. If you continue to not type, and then go back to typing, it inserts a line break where you started. Why do we need this? I'm capable of pressing Enter myself. I don't need Blogger going "LOL I R HELPING".
Another thing that I've noticed is that the bar it puts up at the top of the page never shows me as being logged in. I click "Sign in" and it takes me to my dashboard without prompting for username/password, so obviously I'm logged in. I'm allowing blogger.com and blogspot.com to run javascript, so that isn't it. I've tried clearing my cookies, that hasn't helped. Maybe someone can answer that for me (doubtful though, this is yet another site of mine that nobody reads). Either that or I get to bug the other admin of desudesudesu.org to make me a separate database so I don't have to pollute the forums database with my shit, and just install wordpress or something.
